Camels resting under date palms in the Palmeraie of Marrakech

Palmeraie Quad Bike & Camel Ride

Half day (4 h) Marrakech Palmeraie (hotel/riad pickup) Private or small group (max 16)

The Palmeraie Quad Bike & Camel Ride is a 4-hour half-day adventure just outside Marrakech for couples, friends and families who want an active break from the medina, combining around two hours of quad biking with a one-hour camel ride. It includes hotel transfers, equipment and mint tea, from €40 per person in a small group or private.

The Palmeraie, 15 minutes from the medina

The Palmeraie is a vast oasis of date palms on the northern edge of Marrakech, planted according to tradition in the 11th century and watered by ancient khettara underground channels. Beyond the luxury villas lie dirt tracks, dry riverbeds and small Amazigh hamlets, ideal terrain for quad biking and camel rides. The base is only about 15 to 20 minutes by road from most hotels, so you spend your time riding rather than driving.

How the quad session works

At the base you receive a helmet, goggles and a traditional scarf to protect your face from the dust, followed by a short safety briefing and a practice lap. You then set off in a line behind a guide for around two hours, with a break at an Amazigh house for mint tea and bread. The route mixes palm-shaded tracks with open stony ground near the Jbilet hills, and the guide adjusts the pace to the group.

  • Automatic quads that are easy to handle for beginners
  • Single or double quads: share one if you prefer to ride as a passenger
  • Helmet, goggles and scarf provided
  • Short practice session before setting off

Camel ride through the palms

After the quads, you swap engines for a gentler pace: a camel ride of about one hour through the palm groves, with a handler leading each camel. It is a relaxed way to see the oasis and ideal for photos, especially later in the afternoon when the light softens.

Who can take part

No experience is needed. Drivers must be adults to ride a quad on their own; children can ride as passengers with a parent on a double quad and can join the camel ride. Wear closed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dusty; sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended. Morning and afternoon sessions are available year-round, with afternoon rides best from October to April and morning rides in the hot summer months.
